Hi there i work for microsoft, Can you please tell me are you on XP. When all these Help Questions were asked, there was a load of Virus going around, They were published on Games websites, Limewire was the worst one, so if you do have Limewire or Kazza please make sure you do a virus scan every time that you use it beucase your Virus scanner will not pick it up unless you do a scan. You computer will aslo might shutdown becuase the virus or it be a hacker is trying to get onto your computer and your firewell is locking it out bu shuting down your computer. Also please be aware that at the moment all pc are being traced to a center computer in France becuase off a Techinal probleme we has a couple of days ago, So if you do get a virus please report it to us as soon as possible beucause this virus will destroy your memorary and there is only one thing to take ot out. Thank you for reading and dont forget Windows Vista is coming out in Janurary now not November. Thank you Desmond

It's probably a Bloodhound. A virus that when found or just installed into your system causes your computer to shut down in a certain amount of time. I beleive that you haven't found it yet since it says that shut down will be in 30sc. and when it IS found and the process shut down it will give you a greater amount of time, somewhere around 60 seconds or a minute and a half. What you need to do is first of all get an anti-virus(I would strongly recommend the latest version of Norton Antivirus. Finally when you install this run a Full system scan and if the Virus is not found OR if your computer keeps on repeating the same procedure of hell then what you Will have to do if you don't want to buy a new computer is REFORMAT. I suggest you get Windows XP - Proffesional, rather than Vista. (Also Vista requiers certain system requirements) Hope everything works out well.

When does it do that right when you turn on the computer or later on... if its right when you turn on the computer then open up Notepad.exe and type in shutdown -a and save it as SHPREV.BAT then put it in your startup folder. If its not when you turn it on then do the same steps but put it on the desktop instead of your startup folder and then whenever it starts counting down then double-click SHPREV.BAT and then it will stop shutting down and you can continue what you were doing...

if it has a countdown your are being infiltrated by a trojan.exe.horse which means that you need a firewall. download imesh from imesh.com and download norton firewall 2003 not 2004 shaun, 13 years old had the same problem

If it's happening when you play games, or other demanding applications, not just a specific program but it happens with several games, you should check your fans are all spinning and if you computer has a temperature monitor check that. I had the same problem, it was because the pc was protecting itself, it got hot when i played games and shut itself down.

when i too, play one of my more advanced games, it will play for about my guess of maybe 10 minutes, sometimes less. im not so sure its overheating. then again, it doesn't happen when im just on my desktop or on the internet explorer. i DID notice that i can't access the power mangement, only the toshiba power management. and the toshiba power management isn't really wat i need, i need to access the power mangement but a warning comes up and all the stuff on the menu is un clickable. what do i do?!?!?!?

please help latitude p111 650 win 98 up grade to win xp no have original disks for xp or 98 p r o b l e m ? ? ? ? yes ssss my computer shout down by itself after almost finish the booting (icons there and every thing in the task bar almost finish and then south down) if i try safe mode is ok but if restart at normal mode hapends again q: how i make work again q:2 is any how i can reset the computer to the original factory settings whithc out using disks?

it could be the win32.sober stop the countdown using the way ramin explained... goto microsoft.com and get some updates or better: get a firwall like agnitum outpost pro orzonealarm or something like that... and an antivir and you'll never get problems with a trojan :)

same answer as jack i hav problem wen playin games checked fans,fine checked temp runnin high but ok shuts down somtimes aft 10secs sometime 4hours ,totaly random??new graf card ,1g ram ,560gb hard drive runnin on windows xp?? help

you should check the air vent and make sure its not blocked or will over heat and shut down

the shutdown problem is because of a spyware called lasses.exe download latest antispyware like micosoft antispyware of go to www.quickheal.com and download trials

You either got a trojan virus or one of you friend created a .bat file in your start up folder. The .bat file will tell the computer to shutdown in a set time. or if it doesn't happen at start up they could have set it for example 5mins so it would shutdown in 5 mins.
