Real physics 101. Your range doesn't just depend on your velocity. It depends on your angle. Your velocity shouldn't be above 300 anyways unless you're playing outlaw (i.e. without refs, just with your friends) and want to. Neglecting air resistance, any object that's freely falling, does so at an accelleration of 10 meters per second, per second. That's vertical pull towards the ground via gravity, and it's constant no matter how long the barrel is. What's more, vertical force is not effected by horizontal force: no matter how fast you shoot the ball, if you shoot it exactly horizontally it will hit the ground in the same amount of time it would take if you dropped a ball (or any other object) from the same height as your barrel. the moral of the story: barrels do not equal range.

Ha ha ha! You people are retarded! My Tippmann A-5 is the fastest shooting gun around. I can get 27bps consistently with my gun. I had a Spyder Imagine, and it graciously sucked. It was cheaply manufactured, and the damn screws strip out easily. I once got shot in the hand and dropped it, and it screwed up my trigger. The problem with you people is that none of you have ever had enough money to AFFORD a real gun. My Tippmann has been run over by a Honda 400EX, and the only thing that broke was a cheap tasco sight I put on it. I can empty a 230 rd hopper in 8.51 seconds. Lets see any of you do that. And another thing, my E-trigger was left out in the rain overnight, and it worked fine. My Tippmann will even fire underwater. Try THAT with your little 120$ Imagine.

Tippmann's don't suck. Neither do Spyders. It depends on the gun, the mods, what it is stock.... BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY: The user. Since most of you guys yelling and mispelling and cursing sound like you are 10, I doubt you even know what your talking about, you are just squawking on about your gun and trying to seem cool (which you are simply annoying). Personally, i haven't noticed much semi-auto problems with the stock barrel, but full auto those balls fly EVERYWHERE... It's not even funny. I am going to try the 16" next time i play, i recommend you guys get a rifled (straight rifling) barreled to keep it from spinning. My spyder Imagine-S has done me well, and is more fun than it is good in cold-weather. Keep that CO2 tank warm, or get N2. you NEED to get an electric hopper for this gun, capable of 12+ balls or BETTER. You also should invest in a good barrel of 12"+. THATS ALL U NEED TO MAKE YOUR IMAGINE PERFECT!

I have a tippman A5 and a New Spyder Imagine and well to be honest the New spyder imagine is by far better then my A5 but on the A5 side the A5 is alot durable and easier to clean but game wise Spyder Imagine wins My spyder imagine has a 14 inch excel barrel which is damn accurate I aimed for a branch that was about 2 inches thick and I was about 170 feet and I hit it, I also have a pressure gauge on my imagine, and a Jt evolution 2 hopper. My teammembers all have spyders except for 2 guys with angel fly's But tippman'sarent that bad, what I like about them are they look like real guns in a way and there better in the woods only with an E trigger that is but in speed ball haha "time to bring out the imagine. -Just Imagine

Firt of all u dont know wat u are talkin about (tippman) those guns suck and i can tell u are a nubie or a freakin war freak so shut up ...my spyder is a low pressure spyder and i would put it up against any gun there are so many things u can do to spyders ...i started out with a spyder extr and i have not one part on it stock from the berral to the trigger frames board ...u put a new titaniun hammer with a rocket valve and keep goin from ther with nitro i would put it up against a timmy so dont let anyone tell u that spyders suck.if u visit more forums and u will see ...my friend has an cocker and he loves my gun....we both went to a turny in denver and smocked everyone and people didnt believe the thing u can do to spyders. About barrels and range: Firstly I agree with Mene Gene. The thing is that with a longer barrel it is a balance thing. Fact: A barrel causes friction upon exiting the gun thus making the exit speed reduced; paintballs are like any other projectile--it moves in a parabolic motion. Its like this, if two exact cannons shoot a ball, one at 100km/h and one at 200km/h at the same angle, then of course the 200km/h ball will go farther. In terms of barrels tho, accuracy is what a barrel really affects, sure you may have great range with like a 5" barrel (omg that is short lol) but ur accuracy will be terrible. Even though your ball may fly far enough to hit ur opponent, u won't be able to hit him cause its too inaccurate. The longer the barrel the more accurate up to I'd say about 14". (suggestion: I have a sypder imagine and I got a progressive barrel made by smart parts 14" good run for ur money)If ur barrel is too long it often makes the ball bounce around in the barrel too much if ur buying a barrel under $100, past $100 barrels go into crazy tech sometimes for sniper with like 25" barrels. But in short I suggest to get a 14" barrel if ur geared towards just tournament style paintball. If ur a sniper (like I'm talking crazy sniping like over 2000 feet do some reasearch on paintball snipers, they are a different breed than asualt)And in any note though, I beleive that a spyder imagine is best used as a medium range assult weapon. If ur really worried about incresing ur range, u should move up more lol, a lot of what paintball is is getting a good position, how? Move up or what ever is more appropriate at the time! (side note: spyder imagine is intense)

Look guys and girls, it all depends how you look at the markers. I own a spyder imagine and a tipmann. tipmann'sare great markers once you buy a flatline barrel which extends the balls flight path by 100 feet. However they are great for the average player, they are slower and some what a gas hog but what people do not realize is that they are virtually indestructable. I smashed my against the pavement and it is fine. The spyder imagine though is also a great gun it is fast and accurate plus it is very affordable. But, without an electric hopper or a anti chop system bolt you will constantly find yourself shaking your marker to get the flow of paint back and taking off your barrel and unjamming balls in the bolt. So really it all come to which one brand you like more. If you ask me which one I prefer, I would have to say the spyder imagine, mainly because I am a front and since i am on a young guns team I need the speed. But of course I had to buy a dell rin acs and a electric hopper.

I have PMI's Spyders, Autocockers and Tippman guns and you guys argument is retarded. It is preference and preference alone that wins this competition. I have found the most accurate is autococker (AC), the furthest shooting (at 300fps) is AC, the fastest pumper (with stability) is PMI and the most dependable is spyder. However that is pure opinion and I respect all manufactures. Indisputable facts are however, 1. Better to have a clean pump up brass eagle than a dirty A4. 2. Autocockers can throw balls further distance per avg FPS than any other gun. 3. Paint is ten times more important than gun. 4. Any Barrel over 12" is for looks, feel or spin. The longer barrel MAY shoot farther than a short one if the short one does not add underspin. However a 10" barrel has plenty of room to make the ball do a virtual 90 degree up after 10 ' of exit, so long barrels USUALLY do not aid in distance however can offer improvements in accuracy based mainly on its aid in aiming. But all in all a shorter barrel can shoot farther, Period! Woodsman play is best with PMI tracers and ANY Tippman, YOU CAN AIM! Who walks from the field the victor? The one who spent more time in play with their gun than the one talking about it.

Ok first of all your all retarded I mean "what does the battery do"? how stupid can you be thats the reason your gun fires, no battery=no fireing. Second your ball picks up speed in the first EIGHT inches of your barrel, after that it gains accuracy. that doesn't mean that if you have a 21 inch barrel your gonna be able to shoot a specific freckle on your opponents head. Every gun has the perfect length of barrel for it, its just a matter of finding that "sweet" barrel and the paint that works best with it. Also the whole tippmann sucks thing is kinda gay. don't kid me wrong I have an '05 Imagine and I love it but the whole which gun is better is totally without a doubt a matter of opinion. Also i would recomend either haveing several barrels so no matter what size your ball is you can match it up with the right size barrel for maximum performance or the Freak barrel although its spendy its worth it. pretty sweet check it out.

I have had a tippmann a-5 for awhile now even with the stock barell it was great. I got a flatline for it and its almost unfair. i use it in speedball because its funny as hell to see a kid with an intimadator cry to his buddies cause he cant beat a kid with a tippmann. There loud but who cares ? you not supposed to be quiet in speedball or you wouldnt have electronic hoppers. Spyders are good but there accuracy cannot compare with an a-5, there faster but who cares i can eliminate someone in one shot while you fire a hopper and a pod on one guy trying to hit him. Spyders also dont have the ergonomics an a-5 has with the flatline on its practically a magic want i dont aim i just point and pull trigger and the ball hits its mark.

I've been playing paintball for a little over a year. I bought my tippmann 98 C for $30 from a friend of mine, cleaned it, repainted it with this wicked crackle-paint, threw a response trigger, expansion chamber, and a Smart Parts 14inch all-american barrel on it. Internally, I added a lighter rear bolt, a more accurate front bolt, and an all-steel parts kit. Then I tossed a Halo-B hopper on it just for kicks. I play on a rec-team and my gun blows most guns away. It's EXTREMELY accurate and automatic if I need it. Heck, even before the internal optimizations it was more accurate than any spyder I've ever played with. I now own my tippmann and a spyder Imagine. The imagine has a barrel adapter so it can fit my all-american. The 98C kicks the crap outta the spyder, I don't know why I bought it. ...Ignorance is bliss I suppose @ the spyder fanatics. I spent less than $300 on the parts for my tippmann, and the gun itself.

I am fond of the military pb and I perfect it to standard Xball. That�s why I can not own an electronic or other fullauto gun. And I don�t want to shoot bursts, semiauto looks ideal to me, anyway, it is more economic to pick shots. I needed a simple, heavy, durable and powerful marker with a decent accuracy. No high tech stuff, which wouldn�t survive my way of playing in the woods. I got myself a Spyder Victor II. I upgraded the handle and set up the speed to an ideal value. Soon I will be buying an air tank and pressure system. No more upgrades. My loader is only ViewLoader200 and I am satisfied. The forest fighting is for real men. Xball is a temporary hobby of mine. And I like to play inside objects. I hate those air-filled pieces...

spyder v tippman = apples v oranges all you run your mouths, i have 4 spyders, the original spyder from 1985, all black and no upgrades, m16 grip only, still shoots great, then i have 2 shutters (the best semi ever made) and an AMG. the AMG is the best marker ever, period, halo hop with nitro and the original 16' armson barrel, now the answer to the original question about barrel length, the extra lenght doesnt help your range, it helps accuracy. i was lighting up some guys through an enclosed bunker firing through the 4'x6' port holes on the north AND the south walls, total range was 250 feet, but the accuracy through the holes is what did it, they thought i was in the bunker. 12 kills later, they found me 80 feet behind it.

Hey, I have a spyder imagine, and I just love it to pieces, my brother has a spyder acs and he payed like 80$ more then i did, and I like mine more, I always go paintball, But you cannot play with the stock barrel, I upgraded to a 14inch Lapaco Stainless steel, best choice I ever made, I have an elctro hopper and i can even out shoot the hopper with my imagine. The best part about it is its a cheap gun but very good when upgraded, I like playing bushball aswell as arena and the course i go to only has tip98's and my imagine out shoots the sh!t outta it and i can here where there shooting from across the playing area.. There so load and arnt as accurate, so any noobs out there looking for good gun for a cheap price, Go for the Spyder Imagine.. It won't let you down. *TIPPMANNNNSSS BLLOOWWW CHUNNKKSSS* -Jordan P.S. Ok you guys, has anyone heard the saying you get what you paid for. Well, i'veseen Imagine'sfor as low as $100. that is because Kingman has realized that it is not a great gun but people continue to buy it so they keep a low price to attract a person who is new to paintball. I have had a Tippmann 98 Custom for two years and have not had to repair it once. All my friends have the Spyder Rodeos, Spyder Imagines, Victors, Sonics, and Xtras. They all are having problems and are constantly repairing their guns. Although the Tippmanns are slower, and less accurate their mainly for woodsball and are much more reliable than any Spyder. In fact the original 98 is better than the Spyder Felix.

Yes I also have an Imagine they are pretty sweet guns. I have a 14" Smart Parts Linear barrel on it which shoots fantastic & I also have a VL Revvy which works good on this gun. My friend & I recently went to a local speedball facility & it was great. Everyone there laughed at the fact that I had a Spyder (They had DM5s & DM6s) but I'll tell you I had more experience than a lot of those people there (going on 5 years) &they didn't laugh after I kicked there butt. Now I don't mean to brag but My friend & I got there & all the speed ballers were leaving. My friend & I were out in the store buying some equipment when some adults walked in....you could tell that they have never played in their lives so we kind of laughed under our breaths so we went back to the field and thats when we played them.....all 7 of them....my friend and I killed every one of them without getting out.

First of all, you have a great gun!!! Second, a 16 inch barrel would make your gum pretty damn accurate. You should be able to hit anyone on the field within 300 feet!!

Physics 101, the length of the barrel does not determine range of shot. velocity determines range, which is adjustable without regard for length of barrel. first few inches of barrel are where ball accelerates, after that more co2 is required for overcoming friction to result in same velocity of shorter barrel

Spyders are 9999999 times better then Tippmanns. Tippmanns suck ass. The spyder imagine a new barrel and an electronic hopper is the best combo ever. It is as good as any gun.

I have a Spyder Imagine personally, and I tournament play with it and i have a 16" Demon barrel and people come in there with any other gun costing about 1,500 and the Imagine does as good if not better !!GREAT INVESTMENT!!

HI, I jsut bought a spyder imagine from ebay with a 21 in barrel. Do you think that would be a good combination and is threr anything else i would need for the gun to be stronger in range and accuracy?

yo I got a spyder imagine and i think it is better than many guns out there you people pop out with $$$$ guns but your not showing me anything also I have a 16 in knock out barrel and i woop ass with it great investment tippman are not that bad but i say my imagine is way better aming and all that has something to do with the shooter and the gun but its basicaly the shooter the gun doesn't aim for you u aim if you miss and curve adjust your pressure PZ 1 LOVE

i also have an imagine and i prefer a 14 in barrel made by jr 3 series or sumtin lik that.its a very good investment and shoots very well never really tried the 16 in. i play speed ball very often and find that the 14 in is pretty accurate.and prefer anyone to stick with the 14 or in that range of length

i just go my spyder and i think that if you like the woods go wit da tippmann but speed ball or n e thing else go wit teh spyda. i just put a victor board on my halo and it shoots fugen awsome. p.s tippmans suck no one has um in pros. O YEAH THE TIPPMAN A5 HOPPER THING WILL PUT THE BALLS IN YOUR GUN NO MATTER HOW FAST YOU SHOOOT BUT I TINK THE EGG AND VL WILL PREEETY MUCH DO THAT ALSO SO GET THE ONE YOU REALLY WANNA GET. PREETY MUCH EQUAL BUT U CANT COMPARE THE A5 AND IMAGINE YOU COMPARE THE FENIX AND A*5. UR CHOICE REALLY

I think that the spyder imagine with a custom products 14 inch barrel has done great for me. I play speedball with it and it has never done me wrong. TIPPMANNS SUCK!

dude i just bought a spyder imagine and i seriously love it. i just spent $80 more to get a decent barrel and electrnic hopper and the gun owns. buy it. o ya and no joke tippmans suck nuts. they are loud, expensive, and anooying as hell.

You people who have problems with tippman are fools. I have a spyder flash AND an A5. Apples and oranges! I'm not about to go tramping through the woods with my spyder. Tippmans are indestructible. You can take a dive into a pond or a puddle and still come out shooting. Try that with any other gun and you'll be going home early to clean your gun and buy a new E-trigger for it. For indoor play, they obviously won't keep up with the smaller faster E-guns. Although my A5 comes pretty close and would be just as good if I put an E-trigger on it.

I have another qustion and im to lazy to make a thread. I deicded that im going to get a paintball gun and im leaning twards a Spyder Imagine. However myfriends friend has been playing for years and he says spyders suck ass and tipmans are better. What do you think. (my personal opinion is to get a spyder imagine. i saves you the mony of always buying co2.)

Yo. the battery is what makes the spyder chip power up and able to do 3 burst, semi, or filly auto. you can also ajust the rate of fire. the battery is easy to charge and 1 charge lasts like forever. go with electronic spyders they rule.

tippmann 98 customs blow away the imagines after u puta few up'son them like the rt and a barrel but with the rt im able to out shoot ne hopper and i dont no one imagine that can do that

I have a Spyder Imagine select and it kicks ass.I put a 14'Dye barrel on it and a electric hopper.My gun keeps up with the 15oo$$ guns. o ya Tippmans suck donkey balls. Spyders all the way...they f..... rock

I have a suggestion to those of you that constantly buy Co2. Why dont you try going to a dealer that supplies large Co2 containers. I was paying $2,40 a pop to refill my 9oz and my 20oz. But one day they ran out of Co2 and I went to thier supplier and got a 50lb co2 canister dropped at my front door for $38.00 a year for the canister and $19.00 per refill.Saves a boatload of money and I have no problem shooting like a madman on the field =)

actually, on second thought, if the co2 (or n2) is at a high enough pressure, it will keep accelerating the ball down the whole barrel, which will help accuracy. spyders rock, tippmans suck. the 98 custom bows down to the Imagine, and hails it as its all mighty ruler.

I am thinking about getting a spyder imagine with a 14in barrel and my friend has a tipman 98 and me and some of my other friends made fun of his gun because it sucks crap and whats up with the one finger trigger it sucks! p.s.spyder rules tipman sucks tipman go f#ck yourself

I just got a Spyder Imagine today. I've been using Spyders sense the beginning, and they haven't steered me wrong. You guys shouldn't swear so much. I bet most of you aren't even over 18, relax - you don't sound cool, we get it, Tippmans suck.

i had an imagine for a while and it never had ne problems it shoots great, plenty fast enough (who needs to shoot 30 bps neway)and its accurate. Tippmans dont suck that bad, but i hate tippman pple cuz they just dont understand THA POWA OF A SPYDA but, for the HeIl of it, TIPPMAN U SUCK BALLS
