I got married on March 2001. I am an American Citizen. My husband is from Mexico. We put his application for his immigration status. He received his green card this year in june 2003. But before he received it he left me. I thought that we were having little problems. But he would come back just he needed something. Sure enough he came back
for his green card. What can I do I have not lived with him since february. 2003. He has not been responsible for me or his daughter. I need help. Is there any possible way that I can take his green card to get canceled. And ME and My parents paid for his immigration fees. Please what can I do.

Hi Vanney,

I also married a man that told me our marriage was over, once he received his permanent residency through my citizenship in May of 2003. He is originally from Peru.I want to organize an organization called "U.S. Citizens Against Green Card Abuse Through Marriage". I'm trying to recruit as many U.S. citizens as possible who have gone through this extortionate experience,in order to have our legislators pass a bill against this "incredibly" common practice going on in our country as I speak. Please feel free to contact me. Believe me I totally understand your pain.

Hispanic culture very passive and goal oriented.  Saving Face very important.  My wife followed orders from her parents when she married me, but then presented me as an abusive spouse.  I was repelled by her extreme actions after she got her "green card".  She still works at Boeing.  Good job Boeing!  She's a double minority!

"Green Card" marriages hurt kids as well.  My mom married my dad just to get to the US, and then had me because there was a law that stated that you couldn't send the mother of an American citizen back to her native country(they changed the law finally).  So women were coming here and having kids so they could stay.  The whole time I was a kid she didn't care about raising me and never did anything for me that she didn't absolutely have to do, because she said she had to take care of her brothers and sisters and now she didn't want to take care of any more kids.  My father resented me too because he was angry at her for marrying him under false pretenses and because I was there he couldn't "send her back" as he was always threatening to do.  He physically abused her but she never called the police because she was afraid of anything negative on her record for naturalization which took 7 years.  It was like 7 years of indentured servitude, and I was born into it.  Green card abuse is a disgusting crime that hurts kids, I still am in therapy because of it and now I have problems in my relationships because of what I had to witness growing up.  Now that I am an adult, I had someone try to marry ME under false pretenses, an Argentinian guy who pretended to be Puerto Rican so that I would not know he was illegal and needed a green card.  After I realized the reason for his strange behavior around police, etc I stopped talking to him and I will never speak to him again because what he tried to do to me is so terrible.  I know only too well the terrible pain it causes.

Same Situation. I married three years ago and have come to the sense of filing for divorce.  Last year, I found out that my husband lied about everything our marriage was based on. No degree, education, work.  I was dumb enough to believe all his lies and even tried to work things out afterwards but can not live like this.  Is there anyway I can have him deported? Please advice.

He is a very special person.  Yeah I know there are some people that are horrible and very deciving.  I just don't want people to think that they all are.

I think there is a law now that if wife or ex wife report it to IRS, INS or other authority, his green card could be taken from him and he will be deported.  Not everybody filing for this I think.

I am in the same situation. I have fallen in love with one of the worst men alive. My husband who I am getting divorced from, lied about everything my marriage of 4 yrs was based on. I have finally come to believe the reason he married was the green card. He allows this tramp he is with to call all the shots and treat and talk to me like trash, then he comes back when needs something and acts like he is confused about his feelings. I am putting together my case against him with 4 yrs of proof I couldn;t believe to get him thrown out. We can;t allow others to use us and our love in this way, only to be hurt and thrown away when they get their papers. I am done!!!!

I hope that you are aware of the pain and damage that you will do to others who want to marry to be togeather. My fiance is Hungarian, and I love her very much, if that right was taken away, I would never, never be able to be togeather. Find someone that really loves you...its not right to take the Right away to be with someone you love. FREEDOM is not a something you can get back easily, protect it.

I feel like I have been the victim of green card marriage too.  My husband is about to get his permanent green card and I already  see our relationship ending.  I helped him through college and all the tough times and didn't think about myself all these years.  Now, he got his degree and job, I think he wanted all this to support his family.  I know he will be leaving me shortly and bringing/helping his family back home.  Please advice if I can take an legal action to deport him in this case

I married my arab boyfriend on Sept 7, 2001. Yes four days prior to 9/11. I married to help us out. Since he was on a student visa it would be hard for us to save for a real wedding unless I married him to get a work permit. So of course I married to get my dream wedding. Well years later he has a green card and I have yet to see my dream wedding. All I got was many promises. I don't think I would be so hurt if I knew the honest truth up front but to be made a fool. He has not live in our home for 2 1/2 years. I don't know why he won't file for divorce. Does he need to be married for a certain amount of time? He use to try in our marriage before he got his greencard. Now he could care less.

Isn't it funny? I thought that one of the reasons why some people are against gay marriage it is because they say that gay relatioships are not stable. Damn! What about the straight ones?

I've been praying for books on this subject. I married a Peruvian four years ago so he could get a green-card. Marriage based on lies. I have a story to tell; who can I tell it to? I'm afraid to get a divorce. I am near suicide. I need answers too. Not physically abusive, but emotionally abusive, deceitful and has no sexual love for me, since after the wedding.

MY HUSBAND IS FROM AFRICA AND I AM IN THE PROCESS OF FILING FOR HIM. HE TOO HAS A VERY BAD ATTITUDE. HE HAS MOVED OUT OF THE HOUSE AND LEAVING WITH HIS BOY. HE TAKES GOOD CARE OF HIS DAUGHTER BUT I CAN TELL IT IS ABOUT A GREEN CARD. IF YOU CALL THE IMMIGRATION AND TELL THEM HE MARRIED YOU FOR DOCUMENT AND IT HAS BEEN LESS THAN 2 YEARS I THINK THEY WILL REVOLK THE I130 APPLICATION. I AM NOT SURE BUT I HAVE A FRIEND WHO MARRIED A GUY AND HE LEFT AFTER HE GOT HIS GREEN CARD SHE CALLED INS AND THEY ARE GIVING HIM PROBLEM WITH HIS DOCUMENTS. THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW.

I too have been taken by a man from ghana. Only when his behavior changed I went to work I have alot of documents on him including papers that prove he was still married in africa when he married me! Im gonna get him in court. We have a child together he was mad at first until he found out it was easier with a child. June 25th will be 3 years we've been married. I have him charged right now with 3 counts of assult, and have a protective order til 6/08. He won't be so happy when court is over. My lawyer says they are gonna prove he was married which will void our marrige which will cancel his greencard!

Green Card Marriages are so terrible and painful. you feel cheated, betrayed, used. Infidelity is also hand in hand with this as the spouse is ingaging in infidelity since the spouse married just for the green card so they are living at the same time a differnet life. See information on www.GreenCardScam.com People who do that they already know the law and know what they are doing and so it is almost imopossible for the innocent US citizen to do anything about it. I hope these Green Card abuser or criminals can somehow get punished for their terrible unhumane crime
