Cancer is caused by an uncontrollable cell growth. If scientists knew the exact cause of cancer they would have already cured it.  However, knowing as little as we do about why a cell exists in relation to the chemistry that happens in the cell, it is impossible to lable the exact cause of cancer.  Although genetics can be related to cancer, it is not necessarily the genes that cause the cancer but rather processes in cell division that are controlled by proteins, and ions in that cell.  Unlike the multicellular being that they make up, cells retain qualities of their parents that are not strictly from genetic makeup (since each cell contains cytoplasm and membranes along with many other organelles, all of this is inherited.)
also, nothing in our environment or our heritage says that we are GOING to get cancer. The reason that you shouldn't smoke is that it promotes cancer, not that it causes cancer.
In conclusion cancer is basically caused by cells dividing with a mutation that is uncontrollable and malicious.

Cancer is caused by the consistent exposure of the body to unnatural substances or when the the body is consistently in unnatural physical conditions , because the body was not designed to handle unnatural substances or conditions it mutates to try and accept or counter act these substances/conditions.

EXAMPLES;

Smoking - Lung Cancer
Insecticides and Pesticides cause cancer of the digestive system and other parts of the body.
Anti-Perspirents and maybe Bras- Breast Cancer
Cycling on hard seats and tight underpants cause testicular cancer
Eating meat - cancer of digestive system, apes rarely eat meat and human beings have not the digestive system required to consistently eat meat.
Air pollutants and other man made chemicals cause cancer of brain, the brain is one of the closest organs to the lungs.
Heading old footballs - brain cancer
Excessive alcohol-liver cancer

Cancers are not found in wild animals distant from human kind, so if you want to avoid cancer don't smoke, and become an organic vegetarian! Be natural!

I think cancer may be caused by smoking or unhealthy eating. I also have heard that smelling to much gasoline can cause cancer but i do not think it's true.Most Cancers are caused by a cell growth that may not be controlled. To much alcohol through out your digestive system can cause cancer to.
