Yes, I have heard there is such a breed.  Someone on a forum I belong to said that there is - but they are very rare and expensive.

I found a puppy in someone's yard, they where giving it away.  She looked exactly like a lab. It had a tiny, ugly(butt ugly) mother.  But they had no idea who the sire was.  Sassy is now six months old and not more than ten inches high, although she may gain two more inches.  So I am the proud owner of a miniature lab.

No, there is no such thing as a "Mini Lab".  However, all dogs can cross-breed, no matter what breed they are.  (This isn't as common in the animal kingdom as you might think- for example Cotton Tail and domestic rabbits won't have viable offspring).  This could lead to a very small lab mix.  I have grown up with Labs and would be delighted if there were a smaller version because my 108 pound male and my 86 pound female will *never* fit in my apartment (which is why they stayed at home when I moved out!).  Maybe someday I'll work on creating a smaller version of a lab with all the same characteristics and temperament. If I succeed I'll give you a call.

There is such a thing as a miniature lab.  I have one.  She is full grown and weighs 40 pounds.  She is much smaller than any other lab I have ever seen.  Most of them are 80 to 100 pounds.

The only AKC recognized breed of Labrador is the Yellow, Black, and Chocolate Labrador Retrievers.  I think what is happening is that due to Labs being bred in two directions- Field and Confirmation, some dogs are coming up short on the Labrador Standard.  So now they are starting their own breed of Miniature Labradors.  BUT akc does not recognize them as a breed so, the short answer----   NO.

"miniature Labs" are available. They are not a separate breed just a smaller version. I normal size lab can have "mini pups" and vice versa. I wouldn't pay an extravagant amount for one, considering that is is a fault to have a lab smaller than 21 inches and larger than 24inches (at withers). It is never wise to ask a vet's advice when it comes to breeds. They not medicine not breeds, go to a dog show...they know best.

Hello, there is no such animal as a mini-Lab,they are simply a ploy to sell Labs.
While your dog may be tiny it is not a full lab if it never grows.
Unfortunately some people will do ANYTHING to charge high prices and sell dogs. Here's more on this situation:Click here: buyer beware

I know a person who bought a "miniature lab" and it grew to the size of a normal lab.  So think twice before buying one.... Could be a scam.

I don't know about mini labs, but mine are pretty small compared to other breeders.  My female is a chocolate 50 lb AKC Lab & my male is a yellow 75 lb AKC Lab.  Their next litter is scheduled for Fall '07 with anticpated "Going Home" date in Jan '08.  I will have a website up & running soon: Southwest-Labradors.com.
