Our darling Dorothy (a 4 year old Doxie) just suddenly became paralized in her hind legs and required surgery for the ruptured disc.  Will she recover and how long will it take? Can anyone offer us support and/or hope?

Hi Marie,
This happened to my Pixel and I thought we would have to lose her. I went to a vet specializing in doggie acupunture. I WAS A SKEPTIC! I couldn't believe it. After two sessions, my Pixel ran out of the room. She lived to be almost 16 years old. I did yearly acupunture maintenance. Good luck!

Michele

Our sweet little Oscar had back surgery almost two years ago....One week to the day after the surgery he walked.    For a period of about 3 weeks I performed hydrotherapy (in water in the bathtub) as well as physical therapy on his back legs to rejuvenate the nerves per the surgeons advice....He is doing great...running and doing all the normal things he did before...The power of prayer also I am sure healed his back....God bless you and your darling Dorothy

I am so relieved to see this post!!!! I took my baby to the vet yesterday morning for the same thing, it is a slipped disc.  We have had our Duchess for 6 years and this is the first time we've had any problems with her.  It was suggested that we do surgery if she isn't walking in a couple of days, the vet is giving her steroid shots for the swelling right now, he said sometimes if the swelling comes down the disc will pop back in by itself.  I'm really worried about her!
