Have just purchased a grundig shortwave radio and would like to find out the bands for german and french broadcasts. Thought I could find a list on the internet.

That depends on where you live and when you listen...
For the German broadcasts search for Deutsche Welle
For the French shortwave broadcasts search for rfi
(Radio France Internationale)

There are lots of places on the internet to find lists of shortwave stations specific to your needs.  BBC lists their shortwave stations on the Internet as do many radio stations which host shortwave broadcasts.  Do a search using the keyword terms for what you are looking for like "shortwave stations german french" and see what you find.

We travel extensively throughout the world and find a list of English speaking shortwave stations for the area in which we'll be traveling before we go just by searching the internet.  Good luck!
