Radio Show:

Dr. John MacDougall has a radio show that is broadcast to all
metropolitan areas of California on Sunday nights from 8:00 to 10:00.
It's a very informative program. He has some type of expert on for the
first hour and then he opens up the phone lines for questions the
second hour. Stations broadcasting this show include KSRO 1350 AM.

  atmosphere. Dishes include many kinds of mushrooms, fungi, bean curd
  and skin, gluten, and other unusual ingredients. Many dishes are a
  bit oily. Most popular dish is the Sweet & Sour Walnuts. No TsingTao

  items seem to be disappearing. All their pasta contains eggs and the
  marinara sauce surprisingly is not vegan. Their nutritional
  information pamphlet lists all menu items and indicates which are
  vegan.



Oakland

- Organically grown ingredients. Generous servings in a very informal
  atmosphere. A typical dinner has soup, bread, brown rice, cooked
  greens, a bean or tofu side dish, and several seasonal vegetable
  side dishes. Meals can be quite outstanding. Breakfast Mon-Sat
  7am-9am $4.25. Lunch Mon-Sat 11:30am-1pm $7.50. Brunch Sun
  11am-1:30pm $7.50. Dinner Mon-Sun 5:30-7:30pm $10. Discount for San

- Vietnamese. Over 100 items on the menu. Prices are pretty cheap,
  $5-$10 (1995). The menu has written in it: "Based upon the principle
  of non-violence and respect for all life, all dishes are free from
  meat, poultry, fish, egg, alcohol, and MSG." Associated with The
  International Supreme Master Ching Hai Meditation Association, a
  religious organization. Open daily until 9pm.

Follow Your Heart, on Sherman Way near Topanga Canyon Road
- Ovo-vegetarian. Vegan-friendly. Follow Your Heart is a
  lacto-vegetarian grocery store and restaurant. They sell personal
  care products, books on natural health, etc. The food is fantastic.
  I eat there every day when I am in L.A. I highly recommend their
  soups (they sell a soup cookbook too) and their tofu rancheros.
  Don't miss this place.

Genmai
- Macrobiotic. Very good vegetarian sushi. Also has regular Japanese
  menu. "Genmai" is Japanese for brown rice.

- Tandoori and traditional Indian. Vegan-friendly. Health consciously
  prepared food with less oil, and naturally colored with saffron,
  beet, cilantro, or carrot in place of commercial food colors. The
  $5.50 buffet (1995) is to die for! All you can eat includes at least
  3 veggie dishes, naan, tikki or samosa, and raita. The Indian tea,
  Chai, is also very good (not vegan-but other choices remain). The
  owners, Sonny and Tanui, are very friendly, and make you feel at
  home. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing, and the food is the
  best we've found in our area, at the best prices. There is plenty of
  rear parking. One can't go wrong dining at Bombay Gate. Open Mon-Sat
  11am-10pm. Closed Sun. All you can eat buffet 11:30am-2:30pm.



Topanga
