Second of all, the moved service seems to be fairly stable now. This is
the service I will be maintaining, and improving. I urge you to use
this address from now on, and I will be encouraging my former co-workers
at OSU/CIS to refer to the new location:
http://www.smartpages.com/faqs/
this page is an introduction-type document. There is no huge list
here. This will be useful if you are on a slow link, and only want
to do a search, or check the listing by newsgroup (neither of which
is near 56K).
http://www.smartpages.com/faqs/top.html
this is the long list that I've always had.
(This is a sort of advance announcement; I'll be telling the world in
a few more days when I'm satisfied that everything is happy.)
Third, I've already made some improvements. The directory listings now
have links pointing to their parent documents (the individual documents
still do not). In addition, all documents received from now on will
have the poster's name, the newsgroups posted to, and the subject line
from the newsgroup explicitly at the top of the document. What do you
think of that Nancy? ;-)
The down side is that links to RFCs are temporarily not being added in
to new documents, and the same for links to man pages (this might be
permanent).
I'll be rummaging through months of mail that I've been ignoring, looking
for changes that have been requested. I did at least make the requested
changes for the beer-faq - persistence pays off eventually. And also
I've deleted a few random out-of-date things I've come across, but I still
have lots of cruft lying around. Sending mail as you find this stuff will
help, even though it might be a few weeks before I get caught up.
