Ads posing as FAQs?

Has anyone encountered FAQ postings that are actually just
masquerading as advertisements? I encountered one such FAQ on
rec.running recently. It was supposed to be about energy foods,
but it turned out to be a shameless plug about Access bars
(kinda like PowerBars). What is your opinion on the posting of
such FAQs, and is there any way to discourage them?
