2001 Mazda B3000

Manufacturer's price during 2001 for this truck was $14,755 dollars; however my husband and I purchased our truck in 2004 for about $8000 dollars. The Mazda B3000 Dual Sport features a regular cab for the retail price listed above, but an extended cab could be purchased for about $17,000 dollars. The engines for the Mazda B3000 series trucks were designed and made by Ford Motor Company and in many ways the Mazda resembles the Ford Ranger truck.
This truck, as least for our family, has been an excellent vehicle. When we purchased it, there were 38.000 miles on the odometer. Today there are over 110,000 miles and we have had no major problems other than routine maintenance. The seat in the Mazda Dual Sport is very comfortable and extends completely across, not being a bucket seat truck. This enables the driver to ride two other passengers in the vehicle if they so choose. There is also a small window in the back of the truck that slides open and shut for additional air flow.
The bed of the truck, while not large, is adequate for transporting most anything except for a very large piece of furniture. Along the inside of the truck bed, there are several places to insert tie down straps so that when you are transporting something larger and bulky, you can secure the load. This feature has been very important to our family, as many family members have borrowed the truck throughout the years to haul away junk and to pick up appliances and furniture.
The Mazda Dual Sport has a V6 engine making it easy to travel up hills and to have the power needed to pass other vehicles. One thing that I did not know before purchasing this truck was that they are very light in the backend, and this can be a problem during ice and snow. Traction can be added by putting tube sand in the bed of the truck. Adding about 250 pounds split evenly over the back axles inside the bed can make the truck safer to operate in bad weather.
Inside the truck there are dual airbags and a very important feature; the ability to turn off the passenger airbag when you are transporting young children. We have grandchildren that love to ride in the truck and keeping them safe is very important. Owning a truck has been a positive experience for us and for many other families as well.
