Yes, I'm afraid so, Janet, but it wasn't nice!

On the evening of November 30, 1999, an electrical panel in the boiler
room of the Just Born factory in Bethlehem, PA overheated and caught
fire. Part of their electrical system was damaged, there was significant
water damage, and partially-complete batches of Peeps and Bunnies were
damaged. The damaged candy was sold as an animal feed ingredient.

Production resumed in early December, 1999. No Peep or Bunny shortages
are expected for the 2000 Peep Season.
