On the evening of November 30, 1999, an electrical panel in the boiler room of the Just Born factory in Bethlehem, PA overheated and caught fire. Part of their electrical system was damaged, there was significant water damage, and partially-complete batches of Peeps and Bunnies were damaged. The damaged candy was sold as an animal feed ingredient. Production resumed in early December, 1999. No Peep or Bunny shortages are expected for the 2000 Peep Season.
