CAPI ist die Abkuerzung fuer Common-ISDN-API.
Es handelt sich um eine Software-Schnittstelle zur Entwicklung
hardwareunabhaengiger ISDN-Software. Die aktuelle Version 2.0 wurde
im Februar 1994 von der Common-ISDN-API working group vorgestellt.

Fuer mehrere Betriebssysteme sind Anbindungen definiert.

Die Vorgaengerversion 1.1 ist auf das nationale ISDN ausgerichtet,
wird aber auch heute fuer EuroISDN verwendet.
